Having been born with a craving for chocolate, I have always been a chocoholic. However, once diagnosed with Lyme disease and subsequent illnesses which followed, chocolate was quickly put on the “DO NOT EAT” list. Initially I thought, how can one live without chocolate? (Knowing what I know now about raw chocolate, I am still asking the same question.)
When my chiropractic neurologists discovered I had a magnesium deficiency, just like 80% of all Americans, it was suggested I take a magnesium supplement. Already taking a variety of supplements each day, I was not excited about needing to swallow yet another pill. So I began researching foods which were high in magnesium. What I discovered amazed me. Raw chocolate, or cacao, contains the highest level of magnesium of any food. Additionally, cacao is even considered a “superfood” due to its unique combination of nutrients.
At the same time I was learning about cacao and superfoods, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease (see my blog www.g-freeliving.blogspot.com along with a plethora about two dozen other food allergies. As I initiated a complete ‘diet makeover,’ I was determined to do so in the most healthy and nutritious way possible without having to eat sawdust-tasting or cardboard-looking foods. After much trial and error, and many things thrown into the trash just after one bite either due to taste or they upset my belly, I now have friends, family, and people in my neighborhood – kids and adults alike -coming into my kitchen and enjoying my creations.
Having a passion for nutrition and being in the kitchen, I began creating “yummy goodness” – from chocolat to animal crackers to extravagant meals – which are just as much delicious as they are nutritious. Soon, the entire Cameron Crew was on our way to better health with smiles on our faces and happy bellies (one of my five children is Type 1 diabetic another is confirmed Celiac and has additional food allergies, and the rest of us all carry the Celiac gene). Please know I am compelled with a passion and committed to the cause of bringing you, as well as my family, the healthiest chocolats and baked goods possible. Therefore, each and every ingredient is chosen based on its nutritional value – for the body as well as the brain. After all, it is our desire at La Vie for you enjoy a lifestyle of health and wellness as you live your life to the fullest.
Eat, enjoy, be happy, and be healthy!
